Shakespeare Opera Theatre is a new kind of company, founded on a dream of bringing theatre and opera together to explore Shakespeare's peerless masterpieces. As Artistic Director, it's my privelege to share with you the company's vision of bringing together actors and opera singers(who both also play instruments, dance, and move scenery!) to present unmatchable explorations of timeless works. Embark with us on a journey of magic and humanity, love and hate, piety and deceit, laughter and tears. Shakespeare has it all in spades. His works are germane to the English language, and within them is contained both the height and depth of the human experience.
As Executive Director, it is my vision that you will attend these performances and enjoy yourself so much that you will be excited to tell your friends, who will also become fans of Shakespeare Opera Theatre. It is very risky to mount a venture such as this with no governmental or corporate sponsors.
We rely on ticket sales alone to bring audiences to their feet and artists to their craft. If you are moved to donate more than your ticket price, we greatly appreciate your generousity, and we would be happy to help you claim it as a charitable donation for your taxes.
The arts are important for so many reasons, not the least of which is plain old entertainment. We are by nature designed for diversion, and in that diversion we find in the relaxed mind many answers to the questions of the human condition.
